Handcrafted in the ancient city of Nablus, Al-Zaytoon is the world’s oldest operational soap factory, established in 1611. For over four centuries, this family-run institution has preserved the legacy of traditional Nabulsi soap-making, producing over 400 varieties of soaps and cosmetics rooted in deep artisanal heritage. I had read about the city of Nablus and its long history of soap making a few years ago. Recently I thought it would be nice to see if Palestinian soap was available and try some out. I came across the Olive Soap Shop located near the Bay Area.
I ordered two to try. Very luscious soap and great on skin! Then I ordered four more to give to friends. Just recently I ordered six more.
I highly recommend trying this soap. It is pure olive oil. The lye (sodium hydroxide which most all soap manufacturers use for saponification) disappears during the making of it. So much nicer on my skin than palm oil or coconut oil soaps. And the small blocks last for a long, long time.
The Olive Soap Shop fulfills orders very quickly, too.

It has a very light pleasant scent that fades quickly, it's thick and creamy which leaves skin feeling moisturized, but it washes off without leaving residue. Hard bar so as long as I keep it dry the bar will last for months. It's a good soap!
